ON A HOT SUMMER NIGHT…

… would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?

You win a million internets if you recognize what the title of this post is from.

So, yes. Other than a few comments posted here and there on other blogs, I’m new to the animu blogging community, and as such, I think this calls for an introduction.

I’m Christi (ZOMG A GIRL ON THE WEBBERNUTS?!), known to you as Marmot. Although I’ve been watching anime in the form of Sailor Moon, Pokemon, and DBZ since I was newly potty-trained, I didn’t actively seek out Japanese cartoons until about three years ago. I’ve only really gotten into anime these past 18 months or so, but it’s been enough time for me to gather a decent amount of figures, watch a very decent amount of anime, and plaster my walls with fanart, wallscrolls, and Negs’ Simoun traces.

To give you an idea of the stuff I dig, my all-time favorite series are Saishuu Heiki Kanojo (although I think the manga is a million times better than the anime ~IMHO~), Simoun, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Haibane Renmei, and Ghost in the Shell: SAC. The stuff I don’t like? Well, that pretty much includes Neighruto, One Piece, Inuyasha, Bleach, and more than anything, Final Fantasy: Advent Children. There’s probably some series I’m forgetting, but oh well.~

My blood type is A positive. I spend most of my free time on the internet. My real age is classified information~<33333 Take one look at the pictures on my wall and you’ll get a good idea what my sexual preference is. That being said, I don’t care for yaoi–but yuri? Oh YES, my queen! I WILL BE YOUR SLAVE FOREVER!

In a few minutes to an hour, I’m probably going to order Good Smile Company’s Meido Rin. Oh, and I don’t buy Alter figures anymore because they all lean. Or maybe they’re just so starved for attention that they’re falling off their bases so that they can feel my warm hands caress their smooth, soft polyvinyl chloride thighs, if only for a moment.

Yeah, I wish. Fuck you, Alter.

I’ll start blogging about actual Japanese cartoons sometime this week, bah.

    MEATLOAF, OBVIOUSLY. BUT I ALREADY HAD THOSE INTERNETS.

    Alter figures themselves are always gr8 imo, but they always give them ridiculous poses and absolutely no support system.. which is why I never buy Alter figures anymore either, ahahah.

    @omo: Hello.~

    @shinohai: Thanks! Man, I’ve still got to get back to your email. I’m just terribly slow when it comes to emailing people back, but I’ll definitely get around to it sometime! X3

    @super rats: I’m glad you think so.~ :3

    Hi Marmot ^^
    I spyed your blog on shinohai’s blogroll and dropped by for a visit. I noticed in your pic that you have When They Cry ~ my current anime obsession :3 That anime is damned spooky. I <3 it!
    Good luck w/the blog and can I add you to my blogroll?

  8. 8 JTFish July 16, 2007 at 8:35 pm

    What the heck? why am I in your links? People actually read my blog?!

  9. 9 Marmot July 17, 2007 at 7:02 am

    @aka_ugly: Oh maaaan, I loves Higurashi something fierce. When I first watched it, I liked it quite a bit, but I didn’t reaaaally love it until I read solution spoilers on AnimeSuki. And I have to say, I really dig the art box. *_* Best purchase I’ve made in a while.

    Thanks, and sure, feel free to add me to your blogroll! I’ll be sure to add your blog to my blogroll as well, since I remember it from Figure.FM. :3

    @JTFish: Believe it or not, people do indeed read–and for that matter, ENJOY reading–your blog! Yeah, I lol’d pretty hard at your Shiori entry and I like your writing style, so I went ahead and linked to you. Hope you don’t mind, haha~

    I have a pile of Alter figures and I haven’t ever had problems with them leaning or anything. Unlike stuff from Atelier Sai or Orchidseed. AS are all like “hey guys let’s make this awesome Mikuru figure but not put support in her single foot so that the pegs can’t hold up her weight and she slowly leans over until she’s on a comical angle that makes her look like she’s doing a turn while running at 200 kilometers an hour”. Bastards.

    Maybe I’ve just gotten the right figures from Alter or something. Now you’ve got me all worried that the Fauna figure I got in the mail this morning is going to end up all distorted. :(

  11. 11 Marmot July 19, 2007 at 10:43 am

    @Negs: I’ve gotttt… Ignis, Dark Saber, and Bikini Saber, and they’re all leaning. Bikini Saber is retired until I can screw her to her base (she was leaning so badly that she fell over one day, taking 2 of her pegs with her =/). Ignis looks like she’s seriously going to fall off her base any day now. Dark Seiba’s leaning forward to the point that if I take her off her base, her sword’s the only thing keeping her up and she can be knocked over with the slight touch of my hand.

    Aw, don’t worry. I think I’ve just got really rotten luck, but that being said, I don’t want to press that luck unless something really, really awesome is being put out by Alter (read: Tsuruya~ *_*).

    I also have Darksaber but she doesn’t have any perceptible lean. That said she’s in my cabinet, protected from the elements. Other than that, I also have Peace@Pieces Hikaru and Nagi, Burst Angel Amy, Moonphase Hazuki, Fate/HA Caren, Fate-chan, Jinki:Extend Aoba, Escalayer, Fauna and also their Type-Moon, Fate/Hollow Ataraxia and Melty Blood Pretty Collection trading figure sets. Absolutely no problems with any of them. In fact, the Fate-chan figure is pretty much the crowning member of my collection at the moment. Massive attention to detail plus they’ve spent a huge amount of time making sure that the figure doesn’t sag or lean.

    It may just be bad luck. Are you putting them in a cabinet or anything? Keeping them away from heat will prolong the life of a PVC figure drastically. I actually had one figure (Orchidseed’s Ryomou Shimei) which developed a terrible lean sitting on my desk beside my monitor and getting heated up. She was on such a lean that in order to keep her from looking wierd I had to prop up one side of her base. Threw her into my cabinet, looked again a week or so later and lo and behold she was leaning back the other way. Took out what I’d used to prop her up and it turned out that she’d straightened up again.

    I’ve also got some of their Type-Moon and Fate/Hollow Ataraxia gashapon; I’ve only had a serious problem with the F/HA Karen one (not the sexy one with the magdala, I traded that one to Paul). Her legs are like jello.~ I really really want Fate-chan. Although it seems highly unlikely that she’d lean, I wouldn’t care even if she did.

    At this point, I don’t doubt that it’s bad luck. I’ve just been putting them on whatever random shelves I can find. Plus, my room is freeeeeeeeeezing. Shinohai suggested that maybe my shelves weren’t balanced correctly, but after testing them with a level, that wouldn’t seem to be the case. Maybe I should look into getting a cabinet. ;_;
